It's a simple question that was asked and the answer is quite simple as well. Why do they feel better if you say "it's all my fault not yours"?
This is the quickest, most frequent, easiest and most accepted response a victim or survivor will give, always resulting in making the abuser feel better, always. If you have said this you are a victim/survivor and if you have heard this you are an abuser. Foolish pride will always win over love. Love doesn't hold a candle to pride, never has and never will therefore the cycle will continue.
