Messages

I am responding to several questions within this message. As always (unless requested) I will not respond to you by name.

First of all, no I did not do anything for halloween besides spending it within the folds of the hills. Back home my kids did participate in handing out candy and even carved a jack o lantern which my daughter sent me a picture of with a message attached. I believe those days are over for me.

Secondly, Yes, I am done.

Thirdly, I have received a few requests for my new address due to the holiday season (Christmas Cards) which I will not be participating in nor sending out my address either. I do not mean to offend anyone but I do not want to be found. You may send me emails instead.

Wow, it's November and I am still living in well you already know. Domestic Violence Awareness Month is over so no more media attention unless news is slow or we have a death. We have the power to change anything and everything all we have to do is want to.

TRADITIONAL LOVE

We speak of traditions
Like they will always be
A tradition is defined by time
Is carried from hand to hand
With pride and joy
Like Thanksgiving at moms
Or Christmas on the river
And maybe all the mujeres
De la familia
Getting together
And making tamales
Maybe even taking turns
With abuelitas recipes
It is the handing over of customs
Sharing of things close to our heart
Hand to hand
Not hand to face
Domestic violence
Is not an option
Nor is it a tradition
To be handed down
From father to son
Or father to daughter
Or mother to son
Or mother to daughter
The blue veins throbbing with rage
Are not to be passed on
Traditional love is enjoyed
It doesn’t hurt
My brown eyes are not an invitation
To be blackened
Las mujeres en tu vida
We are not property
We are women
Pure and simple
It is a disgrace to our race
To be known
As wife beaters
And as violent people
The cycle of violence must end
And we must choose our traditions
With our hearts
And not our fists
Our ancestors
Gave us many beautiful traditions
That we should honor
And when our memory returns
To that time and place
Where we saw the baton of violence passed
We choose to drop it and bury it
So that our children do not become
Victims of abuse
So that they may inherit
Traditional love
