To Forget

What we would do to forget those memories that makes us feel pain, cold and bitter. Those things that remind us why we should not trust, love or forgive. We wash in and out of these memories like the tide washes in and out of the shore.
Pain strikes us down like the rebel waves which strike with no mercy. Leaving us gulping the salted waters of our past. Those who wait on shore promising clear, unsalted water quickly fade away or we bury them in the sand as a punishment for that which might happen. Fear, insecurity and the relentless power of shame buries us in our own unforgiving of self. We await yet another failure. The feeling of impending doom is the noose around our throats as we continue the abuse of self. We are now the abuser of ourselves until we loosen the grip that binds us.
